Fitness Essentials is founded by Dan Poenaru with Stephanie Green acting as Personal Training & Group Fitness Co-ordinator. Fitness Essentials provides personal training and fitness services in the City of Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam and surrounding areas.

vancouver personal trainerI was born in Bucharest, Romania, during the Cold War years. Back then, Eastern Europe was not a fun place to live. Maybe just one of the few good things coming from that era is that the Country made sport a national priority.  Being an athlete was for some of us not only
a way of life but a way to escape the grim day by
day reality.

I was very fortunate in that I started fencing when I was only nine years old. So I can say that sport and physical activity has always been a very important part of my life as far back as I can remember.

Later, becoming a former member of the Romanian Olympic Fencing Team, a career in sport was a natural choice. I
graduated from “National Academy of Physical Education and
Sport”  and I was teaching and coaching for the following eight years. In
the early 2000, I moved to Vancouver, B.C., .and founded Fitness Essentials.
In 2004 I finished my Ph.D. in biomechanics.

I am pleased to see public interest in general fitness and sport grow like it has over the past ten years, and I feel that, our careers as fitness professionals
has never been more important. As fitness professionals we help people improve quality of their life and improve athletic performance.

in a personal training studio.

The Vancouver personal training studios are fully equipped with weight machines, free weights, medicine balls, bosu balls, wobble boards, fit discs, and high-end cardio equipment.

Train with us at Georgia Athletic Club located at 180 W. Georgia Street
Plenty of street parking in the area, and walking distance from the skytrain.

NOTE:  Georgia Athletic Club will be closed in February during the Olympic
Winter Games.

Train with us at 1595 West Broadway (2nd floor).  Underground parking with elevator access is available.  The entrance is from W. 8th Avenue, near Fir Street.

Train with us at Sport Central located at 2611 Viscount Way, Richmond.  There is a women only area, child care centre, and ample free parking.

In Coquitlam we offer personal training in-home, outdoors, or within a private women's only training studio.
