§         Exercise can help relieve pregnancy aches and pains including:  leg cramps, ankle swelling, backache, constipation and hemorrhoids, headaches, mood swings.

 

Stork Program

You will receive:

  • Cardiovascular Training – 15-20 minutes
     

  • Strength Training specific to your trimester with the focus on functional exercises and improving posture– 30 minutes.  Strengthen your pelvic floor, learn safe abdominal exercises. Training includes the use of Stability Balls, Medicine Balls, Tubing and Dumbbells. 
     

  • Flexibility Exercises – chest opening exercises, low back mobility exercises, hip opening exercises, relaxation stretches.
     

  • An educational handout on a pregnancy related topic.

Because we care about your health and the health of your baby a PARmed-X for Pregnancy must be completed by your health care provider prior to attending a class.  Get your copy here.

 

Advise for attending prenatal fitness instruction:

(1) It is important to dress in layers and to shed layers as you get hot to avoid overheating.  Clothing should be breathable and non-binding
(2) Wear good supportive shoes
(3)
Do not exercise in hot or humid conditions
(4)
Stay hydrated
(5)
After eating a meal, wait one or two hours before exercising.  Avoid hypoglycemia by staying hydrated and having a small snack before and after exercise.

Emphasize normal breather throughout exercise. Do not hold your breath.
(7)
Avoid jerky or bouncing movements.
(8)
Always rise slowly from a seated position to avoid dizziness.
